A Visit with Some Florida Sandhill Cranes
The Florida Sandhill Crane is a big bird – reaching heights of four feet with a wingspan of around 78″, they stand out when they are foraging for food along the dikes at Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge near DeLeon Springs, Florida. Sandhill Cranes can reach a height of 47″ with a wingspan of 78″ and weigh around 11 pounds. I visited Lake Woodruff in mid-April, a different time of year than when I usually visit. Lake Woodruff – Florida Nature at It’s Best
Every year around the holidays or school vacation, my family would head south to Florida to get out of the snow and spend time with my father and wife, Nancy. This year was an exception because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, I get the call that no one likes to get; a family member is in the hospital. In this case, it was my dad, after suffering from a major stroke.
