I decided to try out my new Hoya R72 Infrared Filter a few weeks ago on Shaker Hill. The filter lets in very little light and is equivalent to a 8-10 stop Neutral Density filter. Most of these exposures were around 20-30 seconds long with an aperature of around f\/8.<\/p>\n

An infrared filter only passes light above 750nm. Infrared light is between 750-1000nm and we can only see around the 750 level, but the camera sensor can see it all. It can lead to some interesting photos with a lot of creative input.<\/p>\n

Winter conditions are not always the best because an infrared image works best with a lot of greenery and blue skies. There is not much of that in the middle of January, but I had to give it a try.<\/p>\n
